McCulloch+Company Doing Good

Posted by Scott Christopher on Wed, Jun 21, 2017 @ 16:06 PM

Doing good is a value at our agency beyond the services we provide to our clients. We enjoy volunteering at charities and donating time and money to good causes. For example, our controller volunteers monthly at SafeHouse playing the drums and feeding folks there. Our digital media manager helped found a charity, HoPe, which helps Hispanics further their education. Helping others is part of our DNA.

May Good Media Idea: Media and Creative That Work Together

Posted by Scott Christopher on Wed, May 31, 2017 @ 11:05 AM

Monday was Memorial Day, the official kick-off to summer. You likely consumed a frothy beverage or two, spent some time on a lake and/or grilled out with family and friends. This month's good media idea features a brand that is hoping to be imbibed greatly during those summer gatherings, especially by millennials - Mike's Hard Lemonade. To do that, they launched a new brand positioning, "Drink on the Bright Side." The creative is a playful, comedic approach to appeal to millennials and combat the negativity the brand says is currently on the internet. Below is one of the 15 second videos - Jackpot - in which a tanked dude wins a Mike's and a trip to a water park.

Sneak Peek of SunTrust Park, the New home of the Atlanta Braves

Posted by Scott Christopher on Thu, Mar 30, 2017 @ 16:03 PM

Earlier this week, a few of us attended an AMA lunch at SunTrust Park, the new home of the Atlanta Braves. Derek Schiller, President of Business at the Braves, shared the ins and outs of marketing the South's Favorite Baseball team. He shared some of the unique things about the Braves brand and their approach to the new ballpark. In a word, their focus is on "Experience." That's what fans want - and the new stadium has it. From different "neighborhoods" throughout the park, to Comcast-supported all-fiber internet, to new restaurants and better, closer seats throughout the ballpark, SunTrust Park looks to deliver a top-notch fan experience.

Good Culture is Good Marketing

Posted by Scott Christopher on Mon, Dec 22, 2014 @ 13:12 PM

Too many people think that marketing is a siloed function of a company, just focused on the realm of media/communications & advertising. But the best companies understand that there are several things that effect the customer's experience beyond just the Four P's. We tend to agree. Any touchpoint that a potential customers' has with your company is a marketing interaction. As much as we'd like to think only advertising speaks to that, we all know in our experience as consumers that simply is not true.

Why is Online Advertising still the Wild, Wild West?!

Posted by Jeff Jones on Thu, May 8, 2014 @ 14:05 PM

Warning: this might qualify as a "blant" --- a blog rant. We try to shy away from these, but I’ve got to get this off my chest.

Media News: CBS inks deal with Rentrak

Posted by Scott Christopher on Thu, Jan 30, 2014 @ 22:01 PM

In the media world, there was some big news earlier this month when CBS announced they would be using Rentrak's ratings data as "currency" in their new TV buys. This was quite a boost for the company that up until now was a distant second to ratings company behemoth Nielsen who seemed to be unstoppable in it's growth having acquired radio data company Arbitron last year.

Can FOX revive American Idol?

Posted by Scott Christopher on Thu, Jan 16, 2014 @ 13:01 PM

Well, it's January, and that means a few things. NFL play-offs. Crowded suburban gyms, and mid-season TV premieres. It's also the beginning of our busy media buying season as many of our clients are on annual fiscal calendars. This week all of us TV media buyers have been in the thick of ratings projections - the process whereby we evaluate the performance of a particular show by evaluating the Nielsen data and then project or predict how it will perform ratings-wise in the coming year/during our clients' flights in that particular market. We do this for all of the available programs we can purchase. It gets particularly tricky when we are having to predict how brand new shows will perform. But it's part of the art and science of the job that keeps us doing the work instead of machines - and it also means we watch a lot of TV which we don't mind.
