2016 is finally over and 2017 is here. Finally, it's a new year! And with that new year comes the inevitable New Year's Resolutions. You've probably made one or two yourself. Maybe it's quitting smoking. Or losing weight. Perhaps you want to read more. Whatever they are, you make them with the best of intentions and are hoping to improve your quality of life. For the same reason, you need to resolve to improve the quality of your marketing which can improve your business.

We are always keeping tabs on industry trends and like to write about that on the blog from time to time. One that has been a buzzword in the industry for a few years now is "programmatic" advertising. We've written about it before on here, but this term refers to a method of buying online advertising that leverages different types of data to buy unsold impressions in real-time in front of a specific audience instead of a network, or select sites. It does automate some processes, but the idea that programmatic is all robots and levers and no humans is incorrect. In short, buying programmatically allows you to more efficiently reach your audience - it makes your digital buys work smarter.

Unless you've been living under a rock (or underground bunker) you have likely heard about the recent phenom of a show from Netflix called Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. That's right - it's the little comedy show that was released a week after House of Cards Season 3, but quickly surpassed it in viewership. It stars Ellie Kemper from The Office, and a breakout Broadway star Tituss Burgess (who yours truly starred with in a community theater show back in 2000. No kidding - see picture below). Beyond the critical acclaim it has received, it can now add several Emmy nominations to its list of accolades, just announced last week.
