Posted by Scott Christopher on Tue, Mar 22, 2016 @ 12:03 PM

Last week our Media Director, Jeff Jones participated as a panelist on an excellent webinar hosted by Comcast Spotlight and Ad Age. The panel--which featured several other agency and media world thought leaders--tackled relevant industry topics like ad fraud, viewability, cross-screen media buying, programmatic TV and more. A lot of the topics were around digital advertising, but there was also some lively discussion regarding the state of the industry, agency business models and best practices regarding digital/ROI reporting. Click here to watch the replay of the webcast; and leave a comment below with your response to it. We think you'll find the insights helpful in your media planning and buying endeavors.

Good Media Idea: Lexus creates InstaFilm

Posted by Scott Christopher on Wed, Jun 24, 2015 @ 11:06 AM

This really falls in the category of cool marketing idea, since it is not technically paid media. But we love when we see a brand use a media channel so well. That's exactly what Lexus did when they activated brand ambassadors to create an "InstaFilm" at last year's Instameet in California. Lexus invited more than 200 Instagrammers to take photos of their new Lexus IS using their mobile devices, edit, and upload them to Instagram. Then they tagged it with their assigned frame, ie #Frame 103. After that, they were digitally sequenced together to create a stop-motion style film that same day. Empowering people to do something innovative on a platform they love? And featuring your new product? That's a good media idea. Read more about it here.

March Good Media Idea: Skywriting

Posted by Scott Christopher on Wed, Mar 25, 2015 @ 14:03 PM

Our company's tag line "Good Media Ideas" embodies what we try to do every day: advise our clients with good ideas on how to get the message of their brand out to the world via paid advertising. We have some projects we are working on now that are exciting challenges, causing us to leave no stone unturned seeking "wow-factor" creative ideas as we seek the proper media channels to promote them. I came across this month's Good Media Idea while going through this process and had to share.

June Good Media Idea: Magazine bellybands

Posted by Scott Christopher on Tue, Jun 10, 2014 @ 11:06 AM

This month we are featuring a print good media idea that we have found to be very effective for our B2B advertisers. When we begin working on the media plan for our B2B clients, we are always looking for impactful units that will make our client stand out. Often, many B2B industries are still very entrenched in print media - their audiences still prefer the tactile experience of flipping through a magazine or keeping it on their shelf or truck dashboard for quick reference. Such is the case with our client in the construction and roadway industry, Tensar International. We always consider the media consumption habits of the target audience before formulating a media plan.

April Good Media Idea: MINI Cooper's digital billboard campaign

Posted by Scott Christopher on Tue, Apr 29, 2014 @ 11:04 AM

This month's Good Media Idea features MINI Cooper and an excellent use of digital billboards in a campaign celebrating existing customers. Last summer, MINI UK bought a series of digital billboards in a highly trafficked area in London and featured images from actual MINI drivers' social accounts displaying their unusally strong relationships with their cars as a part of their 'Not Normal' campaign. But one week, they made these boards even more interactive. Using a team of "spotters" on the road, they identified MINI drivers to activate real-time "salutes" to the drivers by switching out customized creative to feature these actual drivers as they drove by! Good Media Idea: In-App advertising from Victoria's Secret

Posted by Scott Christopher on Fri, Feb 14, 2014 @ 16:02 PM

Just in time for Valentine's Day, this month's good media idea highlights Victoria's Secret and their in-app mobile advertising campaigns. They are a great example of a retailer that is activating the "raving fan" base of app users to encourage repeat traffic to go buy more - and through strong creative and new innovative technology they've introduced within their app. The latest "Spring Break" campaign features a scavenger hunt of sorts where consumers must find an image of a model in front of the letter "P" and scan it using image recognition technology in the app, to get offers and deals unique to the app. They also have technology that integrates music playlists within the app as well as other games and unique features. All of the campaigns tie in traditional media as well as eBlasts and SMS, a true multi-channel approach which we always believe is a good idea. It seems to have paid off as well as with strong click-through rates for in-app ads as well as measurable consumer engagement and strong sales.

You Are Not Your Target Audience

Posted by Neil Pace on Wed, Feb 12, 2014 @ 16:02 PM

We pride ourselves on putting together media plans for our clients that reach their target audience the best way possible within the budget we are given. Our team takes time to analyze all the media options, verifying TV ratings, cable viewership, newspaper and magazine circulations, website impressions and more to ensure the plan is the best it can be. But one phrase can make all that hard work feel wasted:

Media News: CBS inks deal with Rentrak

Posted by Scott Christopher on Thu, Jan 30, 2014 @ 22:01 PM

In the media world, there was some big news earlier this month when CBS announced they would be using Rentrak's ratings data as "currency" in their new TV buys. This was quite a boost for the company that up until now was a distant second to ratings company behemoth Nielsen who seemed to be unstoppable in it's growth having acquired radio data company Arbitron last year.

Welcome to the Future: Where you can Buy stuff from your Smart TV via your Remote

Posted by Scott Christopher on Thu, Jan 9, 2014 @ 17:01 PM

This month's good media idea comes to us from H&M and their Super Bowl TV spot they have planned featuring David Beckham's Bodywear line. The 30-second spot, when appearing on Samsung smart TVs, will feature a pop-up menu offering more product information, the option to send that info to another device, and even the ability to purchase product using your remote. It will remain interactive, even if viewed later through a DVR. This is all via a platform, Delivery Agent, that has been doing this for years.

Good Media Idea: Asics, a mobile treadmill and one fast dude

Posted by Scott Christopher on Tue, Nov 5, 2013 @ 14:11 PM

This week's Good Media Idea features a shoe brand, Asics, and their promotion of the NY Marathon last weekend. Their idea falls in the "Alternative Media" category for Media Life Magazine, and those are the types of media ideas we like. Here's the premise: A treadmill sponsored by Asics, is driven around New York City on a flatbed truck; it's preset to the record speed of an Olympian runner, Ryan Hall and folks on the street can strap in (there's a special harness hung overhead) and try to keep up to his 4:46/ mile pace. This is all to promote the NYC marathon. It's part event marketing, part PR-stunt, part creative out-of-home campaign, and ALL buzz worthy. We like it.
